MC Express assets

MC Express allows users to interact with Assets on-the-go. This article describes how to navigate through your Assets in MC Express and the various ways you can interact with them.

Note: This quick reference article assumes a basic knowledge of Asset management in the Main Application (MRO). To acquaint yourself with these basics, please visit the Equipment and Location Assets section of the Knowledge Base.

ClosedHow to Navigate the Asset Hierarchy and List

MC Express provides two ways to view and access Assets--the Asset Hierarchy and the Asset List. Each of these can be accessed directly from the Home Page:

Navigating the Asset Hierarchy

The Asset Hierarchy shows a hierarchical view of Assets, similar to the Asset Tree in the Main Application (MRO). This view is organized by Parent-Child relationships, and differs from one organization to the next based on Asset structure:

  • In the Hierarchy view, tap/select an Asset to open the Asset record.
  • To "drill down" the Asset Hierarchy and view the child Assets that reside beneath the higher levels of the Hierarchy, select the angled down arrow at the end of the row. If no arrow appears, this indicates that the Asset has no child Assets:

  • Also, notice the breadcrumb trail that displays at the top of the screen, clarifying the place in the Asset Hierarchy to which you have navigated:

Navigating the Asset List

The other available view, the Asset List, shows Assets in alphabetical order by Asset Name, which may make it easier to find specific Assets:

  • To open an Asset record in the Asset List view, simply tap/select the desired record in the List.
  • To filter the List shown, select the Filter button, and add criteria to narrow down the List, and view specific groups of Assets:

Keep in mind that you can toggle between the Asset Hierarchy and Asset List views by selecting the Toggle button. While in the Hierarchy, this button will appear as a List icon, and then as a Hierarchy icon in the List view:

ClosedViewing Asset Records

When you access an Asset record, you will notice the following features:

  • The top of the page gives basic information about the Asset, including its Name, its Parent Asset, and whether the Asset is in service and available for service requests:

  • You can view and edit more details about the Asset by opening the pages available. These pages function similarly to the Asset tabs in the Main Application (MRO):

  • There is an Action Dropdown Menu available on the grey header bar. From this menu, you can edit the Asset, update Meter Readings for the Asset, view the Asset barcode, and more:

ClosedHow to Create a New Asset

Here are three ways to create an Asset in MC Express:

  • Select the Asset Action Dropdown Menu on Home Page, and then select the option to Create Asset:

  • The Create Asset option is also available from the Action Dropdown Menu in both the Asset Hierarchy and Asset List views:

  • Finally, you can select the Action Dropdown Menu from within a specific Asset record. From here, you can select two Asset creation options. First, the Create New Asset button opens the New Asset page without any of the fields automatically populated. Second, you can select the Create Child Asset button, which will open the New Asset page showing the Parent Asset as the Asset record in which you opened the Action Dropdown Menu:

When creating a new Asset, keep in mind that, just like in the Main Application (MRO), required fields display with a blue border. You can type in values manually for these fields, or you can use the lookup or barcode options available to input the desired values:
